Yvonne Sue Cowan

Leota Yvonne "Sue" Cowan was born March 20, 1937 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Alexander and Della Beryle Elizabeth (Miller) McKay and passed from this life September 26, 2011 at the age of 74.

Sue was a Charter member of St. James in Jenks, OK, where she took pride in serving on the original building committee, the mission committee, as a Vacation Bible school teacher 21 years, member of the choir and the wedding coordinator. She also served 12 years as the coordinator of global missions for the Presbyterian Synod of the Sun. Sue Enjoyed traveling, time with her family and spending winters at her home in South Texas.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Reardon. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Billy R. Cowan; her sons, Jeff Cowan and John Cowan; her brother, Alexander "Frank" McKay; and her grandchildren, Molly Cowan and Jace Vassar.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. James Presbyterian Church, Jenks, Oklahoma and her ashes will be enniched in the St. James Presbyterian Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to St. James Presbyterian Church, 11970 S. Elm, Jenks, OK 74037.
