Wilma Bennett

Wilma (Higgason) Bennett was born February 11, 1931 in Grapevine, TX to Roy & Willie Mae (Steger) Higgason and passed from this life on December 17, 2014 in Catoosa, OK at the age of 83.

Wilma loved gardening, dancing, golf, and singing with friends and family. Grandkids became the center of her life in recent years and "Nana" became who she was, through and through. She lived life with the humility of a servant, she loved people with a heart full of compassion, and brought joy and hope to those around her with her quick wit and lovely sense of humor.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roy Higgason; her sister, Margaret Webb; and her grandson, Patrick Bennett. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harel Bennett; her sons and daughter-in-laws, Jim & Renee Bennett and John & Paulette Bennett; her sister, Mary Evelyn (Bootise) Blattler; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

She will lie in state at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home Sunday from 10 am to 6:00 pm, with the family receiving friends from 3-5 pm. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Saint Marks United Methodist Church, 10513 East Admiral Place, Tulsa, OK 74116. A reception will follow. She will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
