Obituary
William Wayne Neer, DVM was born February 15, 1929 in Waukegan, IL to Harry G. & Margaret J. Neer and passed from this life January 7, 2017 at the age of 87.
William was a Marine veteran and served in the Korean War. After returning from his military service he attended Kansas State University where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1959. For 45 years he worked side by side with his wife Jeannine in veterinary practice in El Reno and Tulsa, OK. He was loved by his clients and many of those clients over the years also became dear friends of William and Jeannine. He loved building model airplanes, fishing, growing flowers in his greenhouse, collecting vintage guitars, and watching birds in his backyard sanctuary.
William was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of almost 60 years, Jeannine (Moffatt) Neer; and his brothers, Carveth K. Neer and Roger D. Neer. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Mark & Kitty Neer and Mr. William & Gail Neer, II; his brothers, Harry Neer and Bradley Neer; his granddaughter, Kelli Michelle (Kyle) Wassom; and his great granddaughter, Harper Grace Wassom.

So, sorry to hear about the loss of Doc. He was one of my dad's best friends and we all spent a lot of time together, both at our music store, but also around the holidays. We lost my dad almost two years to the day as Doc. I imagine it is a wonderful reunion up above. Thoughts and prayers to the family!!

Dr. Neer was our family veterinarian . Our pets always had the finest care from Dr. Neer and Jeannine. Our familys stayed in touch through the years and became very close. Mark, sorry about your Dad's passing and I was not aware until now that your sweet Moma had passed, so sorry. I think you might remember me when you worked for my brother Joe at Dunham Construction. And Jess my husband. So it looks like your a Doctor now, that's great glad to read that..... The twins (Sharen and Karen) say hello to you and look us up sometime. It is hard to explain the deep relationship between pet owners and their veterinarian. Acorn Clinic's last week was a revolving door of loving clients coming in to express their thanks to a man who been a part of their lives for often 2 to 3 generations. I was so touched I even called The Tulsa World and told them the 'Marcus Welby ' of the pet world was retiring. The reporter came out and did a beautiful story. He called me afterwards to tell me 'they don't make them like that anymore'.... When we lost our first little dog, the Neers closed the clinic to attend the funeral. There was and will only ever be one Dr. William Neer. As dedicated as he was in his professional life, he was even more as a friend. Together he and Jeannine enriched the lives of all of us lucky enough to know them. We will miss his wit, intuitive nature, genius intellect, and most of all his genuine friendship. We are certain our pets do go to Heaven, and we are certain who has been placed in charge of their care until we are all together again..... Dr. Neer was my Veterinarian for more than twenty years. I loved him and Jeanne. Just this year I still decorated my house with the Christmas dolls she made. Even after they retired I went to him for second opinions. Our dogs were family and he and Jeanne were a huge part of our lives for years. I have such fond memories of both of them at work and at home with their greenhouse. They are together now and I know he is happy again.
