Violetta Stewart-Smith

Violetta Stewart Smith was born in Tulsa, OK to her parents, Louis Thomas Stewart and Lenora Hooks-Stewart. At an early age she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
Violetta graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1968 and then attended Langston University. She received her degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University and immediately began teaching. She taught over 30 years in the Tulsa Public School System of which 20 years were spent at Celia Clinton Elementary. She retired in 2005 to enjoy life with her family.
Violetta married John W. Smith in June of 1981. In 2014 he preceded her in death after 33 years of marriage. They raised 3 children under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Tiarena (Stewart) Edwards, Tia (Stewart) Hatcher, and Terrance Smith. She was a firm believer in teaching the biblical foundations of God’s word as a guide to life.
Her most prized possessions were her 4 grandchildren, Joshauna (Shae), Dorothy, Stephen and Sydney. When she was with them her face would light up. She made every attempt to spoil them rotten. There was absolutely nothing that she would not do for Nana’s babies.
Violetta was faithful member of Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She served in many ministries over the years such as Sunday school, Choir, Mission, Youth and Pastors Aid, just to name a few. Whenever she was asked to serve she did so with a willing spirit.
Upon moving to Fort Worth, Texas with her daughter, Violetta joined Ben Washington Baptist Church under watch care. She immediately made herself at home and had a circle of friends that checked on her all the time.
One last thing we all knew about Violetta Smith is that she was a passionate Dallas Cowboy’s fan. No one could ever say a bad thing about the Cowboys. She would let you have it.
As much as she loved the Cowboys, she loved the Lord even more. Since the age of 5 she has dealt with adversities and trials. Throughout her life she has had struggles but leaned and depended on God who never failed her. She has some good days, some hills to climb, some weary days, and sleepless nights but her good days outweighed her bad days. She made it to her heavenly father. She definitely is not complaining.
Violetta Smith was proceeded in the death by her, father, Louis T. Stewart, mother, Lenora Stewart, husband, John Smith, brothers, Louis Stewart Jr, Marvin Stewart, and Ricky Stewart. She leaves to celebrate her life: her children, Tiarena (Larry) Edwards, Tia (Armonde) Hatcher, Terrance (Ariel) Smith. Grandchildren, Joshauna Hunt, Dorothy Edwards, Stephen and Sydney Hatcher. Also siblings, Danetta (Caril) Haynes, Madelyn (Billy) Eastman, Elroy (Michelle) Smith, Ray (Joyce) Smith, Elaine (Larry) McMillian, Kenneth (Ana) Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and friends.

She made it over and I know she's glad. Sitting around the throne talking to everybody. In Bible Study one night she told about a problem she was having with a company. She said "I told the Lord to go ahead of me and make a way." I've used that every time I faced any obstacle. May the Lord rest her soul.

I'm glad I was able to give her a hug, the last Sunday she was at church, just a few weeks ago. May God surround Sis.
