Tommy Wayne Hodges was born October 28, 1956 in Tulsa, OK to Tommy Cunningham Hodges and Mavis Minerva Jenkins and he passed from this life on January 4, 2022 at the age of 65.
Tommy died peacefully in his sleep after a battle with Multiple System Atrophy Tuesday morning, January 4. Despite not being a musician himself, Tommy was a music lover and connoisseur. He was an expert in Blues and Rock n’ Roll. It was commonplace to find Tommy dancing and having a nice IPA while enjoying the music he was so very passionate about. Daily, you could find him working a crossword puzzle and reading the printed paper. Tommy, a prolific reader, would check out books from the public library alongside his Mother. They found great joy in reading the same book simultaneously and then discussing what they had read.
Tommy was also an avid sports fan. Fall Saturdays and Sundays were spent cheering on his favorite team, the Oklahoma Sooners, and watching NFL games. Most importantly to Tommy was his strong faith and passion about studying the Bible. His love and belief in God was obvious to anyone who knew or spoke with him. Always up for being social, Tommy loved laughing and giving his friends and family a hard time. He made friends with every bartender and server he ever met, and when he loved someone, he loved them hard!
He will be missed.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Melanie (Roberts) Hodges; his children, Jessica and husband Christopher Hunt, Gabriel Hodges, Kristine Harbison, and Alexander Roberts; his sisters and their spouses, Vickie & Wayne Wilson and Patti (Hodges) & Charley Taylor; and his grandchildren, Braden, Gabriel, Sullivan, Sawyer and Jessie.

My name is Richard Frenche. At a time when pain was all we knew, Tommy and I were cellmates at Jackie Brannan correctional center. Tommy taught me everything from different genres of music, to being a good husband to his wife during incarceration. He was the kindest soul I have ever met in my life. When people didn’t have Tommy gave his last. We would walk the yard, work out, and have all night conversations about what life will be for the both of us when we get out. Tommy was a great God-fearing advisor and encouraged me to join church groups and prayers in prison. Upon my release, Tommy and his wife invited me in to their home to spend a night before I was to travel back to Washington D.C. Tommy was excited for me to have an opportunity to start a new life. I have been looking for him for so long only to find out that he has passed away. What a great soul God has in his possession to become an angel and deliver blessings through to us through the Almighty. God put Tommy in my life when I needed someone like him the most, and I will never forget anything that he has ever told me. May his soul rest in peace in gods arms. Goodbye, my friend.
