Tom Kurtz

Thomas William Kurtz, 92 of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away in his home on December 27, 2012 of Pulmonary Fibrosis.

A pillar of a man was lost Thursday, his legacy of family and friends is an inspiration. All who have had the honor to have had this man cross their paths are forever changed for the better! His boisterous booming voice was reduced to a whisper today, but his family will always hear that voice through children, grandchildren, extended families and his stories.

Tom was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 18th, 1920. He graduated from Central High School and after serving in the Army Air Corp, graduated from the University of Tulsa.

He was a Certified Public Accountant and was a partner in several local accounting firms. He also served as Chairman of the State Board of Accountancy and he was a distinguished senior member of the Tulsa Men's Club and served as President from 1971-1972.

His community service included many years of involvement in the Boys Scouts of America and the Tulsa Boys Home.

Tom is survived by his wife, Alene Cox Kurtz; his children from his first marriage, sons, Edward T Kurtz and Philip D Kurtz and his wife, Shelley; daughter Carol Kurtz Porter and her husband, Curtis all of Tulsa; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was also blessed with step-son, Steve Cox and his wife, Diane of Tulsa and step-daughters Barbara Johnson and her husband , Gene of Oklahoma City and Nancy Cox of Tulsa.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. David A Kurtz; his first wife of 67 years, Rebecca McCright Kurtz; his brother, William Kurtz; and a son, Larry W. Kurtz.
