Obituary
Shirley Robinson Lamb, 82, left this world to be with her Lord in Heaven on April 23, 2017. Born on her parent’s farm near Guthrie Center, IA on March 27, 1935, Shirley’s life and ministry affected people around the world. She saw value in everyone she met, and left them believing they were valuable and precious to her and to God. Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert D. Lamb, of Marionville, MO; daughter, Linda French and her husband, Bill of Bixby, OK; son, David Lamb and his wife, Marcy of Colleyville, TX, son, James Lamb of Dallas, TX; and five grandchildren.
Shirley and Bob, her husband of 59 years, met at Simpson College in Indianola, IA, where Shirley was studying both Piano and Music Education. She was voted President of her sorority two years in a row and won Campus Beauty Queen her senior year. After they married, Bob's employment opportunities took them to Michigan, Arizona, Iowa, and Salisbury, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), before moving to Tulsa in 1976, where they lived for 29 years. They retired to Forsyth, Missouri in 2005 then moved Marionville, Missouri in 2015.
In 1988 Shirley received her Master’s Degree in Church Music from Oral Roberts University. She published two books and several music albums. She founded Shirley Lamb Ministries, which took her around the world as a pianist, vocalist and speaker.
Shirley’s favorite roles were wife, mother and grandmother. Her beautiful smile and outgoing personality helped her make friends everywhere she went. She and Bob loved to travel, camp, hike, and spend time with family and friends. We all will miss Shirley, Mom and Grandma.

Shirley helped me get through one of the worst crisis's in my life. I was an Ambassador for the 96 Olympic Games in Atlanta.The stress of being at events leading up the the 17-day event and the event itself left me weary and physically exhausted beyond belief... I scheduled a counseling session with Shirley after telling her everything I had been through and explaining how I was so very drained. Then she said, "Let's pray in the Spirit".... so we did. Then she said, "I loose Shock & Trauma off you in the name of Jesus and bind you to the peace of God"!!! It was then I felt the oppression shatter into a million pieces... I wept from my guts... I was being released for the shock and trauma from the car wreck that happened before the Olympics... I never mentioned that to Shirley but the Holy Spirit knew it and she was able to hear from Him! It was a major mile stone in my life and it taught me the power of a phone call with a person who hears from God! I have continued this in my own ministry. I thank God for Shirley and how she impacted my life as a friend, counselor, and example of devotion to God and others. I am forever grateful to her and I know she is among the angels now displaying the Glory of God in all of us!

I meet Mrs. Shirley in Tulsa Ok while attending Oral Roberts University. She was very instrumental in helping me receiving healing from traumic situations as a child, and to this day, I still use her prayer manual.. She helped changed lives. What a beautiful woman of God!

Yesterday my son handed me an innocent folded paper from my parents but when I opened it and saw Shirley's obituary, I had to pull the car over to cry a little bit (crying is a sign of life...). Shirley had a huge impact on my childhood. She was so talented and had such stage presence. I was in awe of how powerful she was on a stage and how brightly she would shine. I'm now (at 45 years old!) an actress and theater teacher so it makes sense these things impressed me as a child. But now....after the glamour of a stage has faded for me....I realize it wasn't her talent, intelligence nor dramatic flair that made us all look toward her. It was her love. She loved us all. She was my childhood hero and that makes me a little proud of myself; even at ten years old I could spot quality. I gravitated toward the love.

Shirley made such an impact on my life. I am forever grateful to her. Her joy, love for Jesus, and willingness to teach and minister to others was her hallmark-of course along with piano playing and songs. Shirley, thank you for taking us under your wing with our young ministry; for all your prayers and love shown to us and our family. You are a special person-for sure!
