Shirley Jean Andrews (Gaudu), 92, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, friendship, and memories shared with the many people whose lives she touched.
Shirley was born on February 2, 1934, in Herkimer, New York, to her parents Gertrude Gaudu and John B. F. Gaudu. She was one of five children and grew up with her siblings John B. Gaudu, Edward Gaudu, Patricia Gauda (Chard) and Lois Gaudu Morz in Herkimer. The bonds she created with her family remained important throughout her life, and she cherished the connections she shared with her relatives.
On January 2, 1954, Shirley married a Store Manager Robert R. Andrews in Schenectady, New York. Together, Shirley and Robert built a loving family and shared many wonderful years of memories. They were blessed with two children, Brenda Andrews and Robert S. Andrews.
Some of Shirley’s most treasured memories came from the time she spent with Bob and Brenda as a family. She loved their many adventures together, especially their annual two-week vacations in the Adirondacks. Those trips were filled with exploring the beauty of the Adirondack mountains, traveling around the lakes, walking the trails, and enjoying the peacefulness of nature. For Shirley, these were not just vacations — they were special moments of family, laughter, discovery, and togetherness that she carried with her throughout her life.
Shirley dedicated many years of her life to General Electric, where she built a successful career and developed many friendships that lasted for decades. She was known by her coworkers for her kindness, reliability, and warm personality. Many of those friendships remained an important part of her life long after her time at GE.
In 1983, Shirley moved to Oregon, where she lived there until 2006. During those years, she continued to create meaningful relationships and lifelong friendships. Her graceful nature, reassuring presence, and positive energy allowed her to connect with people wherever she lived. Shirley had a special gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.
In 2007, Shirley moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she created a new chapter filled with faith, friendship, and love. She became an active member of Harvard Avenue Christian Church, where she attended regularly and found a strong sense of community and belonging.
It was at church that Shirley met Roy in 2015, who became a very special person in her life. After inviting her to the movies following church, the two formed a close and loving relationship. Roy was a perfect match for Shirley, bringing happiness, companionship, and joy into her later years. They shared many beautiful moments together, including dancing, which brought Shirley so much happiness. Roy’s love and friendship allowed Shirley’s wonderful spirit to continue shining brightly.
Roy’s family (Janice, David, Doyle,Tammye and Julia) welcomed Shirley into their family with loving arms. Their kindness, support, and affection meant so much to Shirley, and she treasured the bond they shared.
Shirley was a loving grandmother to James Andrews and his wife Alicia, and a proud great-grandmother to Sandra, Jimmy, Dalila, and Clara. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored their grandmother and the love, wisdom, encouragement, and warmth she gave them. She also held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews, with whom she shared meaningful connections and memories throughout her life.
Shirley will be remembered for her gentle spirit, graceful nature, reassuring words, and the positive energy she brought into the lives of others. She had an incredible ability to make people feel loved and appreciated. Her legacy is one of kindness, family, friendship, faith, and a life filled with love.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former coworkers, church family, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Harvard Avenue Christian Church, 5502 S. Harvard Ave, Tulsa, OK 74135. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harvard Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
