Shirley Anne Elkins

Shirley Anne Elkins was born January 16, 1931 to Ira Calvin & Ruth (Gibson) Elkins in Tulsa, OK and passed from this life on September 4, 2018 at the age of 87.

Shirley was an accomplished musician, and was recognized as a piano prodigy at the age of four when she announced that she could play the piano, then proved it to her family.  She enjoyed her job playing the piano and organ in church until late in her life.  She had a love for animals, and especially enjoyed watching and feeding wild birds. Shirley held a variety of jobs as a secretary and medical transcriptionist until her retirement. She enjoyed her church family and friends at St. John’s Episcopal Church. She was always grateful for the guardian angel that looked over her.

Preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Dean Elkins, Shirley is survived by her niece, Jessica (Elkins) Schaaf, and her husband Ray Schaaf, and grand niece Sarah Schaaf, of Shepherdsville, KY .

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 23rd at 1PM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 4200 S. Atlanta Place, Tulsa, OK.  She will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
