Scott Carney Lewis

Scott Carney Lewis passed into the eternal care of God on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Born to Nancy C. and Harold G. Lewis in Tulsa on February 25, 1935, he was the second of two boys, the younger to his older brother Jim. Scott was raised in Tulsa, attending Elliot Elementary, Horace Mann Jr. High and Central High School, graduating in 1953. Upon graduation, he matriculated to Cornell University where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering. While at Cornell, Scott went on a blind date with his good friend’s sister, Mary Cornell Blair. The date, having gone quite well, turned into a courtship. Soon, the courtship was interrupted by Scott’s graduation. Upon graduation he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army Reserves, so his first stop was Summer Camp at Ft. Sill, OK to begin his artillery officer training. Thereafter he moved to Cincinnati to begin work at Procter & Gamble. The courtship continued from afar until Scott and Mary decided to marry, which occurred in Mary’s hometown of Detroit on September 5, 1959. Shortly after marrying, Scott commenced his required term of Active Duty in the Army at Ft. Sill, OK, immediately after which he was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. He then returned to Ithaca to commence his graduate studies, earning an MS in Industrial Engineering in the summer of 1961.
