Roman Larkin Jasinski

Our fathers were in the Ballet Russe together…and when my dad was thrilled when he heard that Roman had come to NY to study. Our families were close and he became a good friend, never forgetting to call me on my birthday. I am sad yet grateful he is no longer suffering

To my amazing, funny, kind, beautiful cous. What I will always carry with me is that wonderfully uplifting and occasionally mischievous chuckle of yours. (If you knew him well - you knew that laugh) I can hear it in my head as if you were standing right next to me. It isn't gone though. It will be with me forever and I love that because it really helps to ease the pain and bring a silly grin to my broken heart. I love you Roman.

Roman worked with me a few times as a TPD Reserve Officer. We were on a call where he really excelled and helped make a dangerous arrest with me!!! Afterwards, he was still running on adrenaline and expressed that he had never felt so ALIVE in his entire life!!! He was a nice, smart and good natured and I was so PROUD to call him my friend!!! R.I.P. Roman Tulsa lost a GOOD MAN on Thanksgiving!!!

My grandparents lived down the street from the Jasinski’s and my husband grew up across the street from them as they were best friends growing up. Roman and I grew up together dancing at his parents studio. We had many summer intensives in New York together and a summer dancing in France. As we grew older we drifted apart and the last time we saw him was an ABT reunion 10 years ago. Rest in peace Roman and say hello to your parents for me !!

Well , Roman was my cousin. He was like my brother and he was born nine months after me almost to the day. The memory I remember most about Roman happened on a trail overlooking the east side of the Grand Canyon. We were walking with his mother (my Aunt Moussia) and our Grandmother Eva down the trail when we decided to go stand on a tabletop rock perched right at the top of the canyon where you could see the bottom of the abyss. So after we had finished walking around and peering over the edge we left. As we walked back to the trail and down it maybe 50 feet we heard a large crashing sound. All the people on the trail ran back towards the sound. As Roman and I arrived back to where the sound came from we realized the rock was no longer there. We had truly cheated death together. It's just a little story but it makes me miss him so much when I think about it. Hasta La Vista ROMAN !!!

Roman was the closest I ever had to a brother. The Jazinkskis and my parents, the Lazowskis, were family to each other forever. Roman and I grew up together when he visited New York every summer. Over the years we shared so many good times: fishing with my husband, Mike, eating lobster around our dining room table, laughing, and sharing jokes we kid each other about for years. He was Godfather to our daughter, and will be missed by us all Vicky and Mike Aspinwall. Chris Henke and family. Danielle Bantileskas and family. Michelle Keatley and family. May he rest in peace.

I knew Roman at American Ballet Theatre. We were both there during the time I considered to be the “Golden Age” of ballet with such famous dancers as Baryshnikov, Makarova, Gregory, Nureyev, Kirkland, Bujones, and the list goes on and on! Roman certainly was fun to work with and to have fun with on our many US tours as well as European tours! I will never forget Roman’s performances in the Nutcracker and Don Quixote . I was saddened to learn of Roman’s passing. Frank Smith , ABT 1970-1983

Roman was my dance partner for many years in The Cincinnati Ballet it was a joy to share the stage with him !

Roman was my physical fitness trainer for many years. His expertise enabled me to achieve my fitness goals. I always looked forward to seeing him because he was upbeat and also very kind. I remember when he and his dance troup went to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia in 2015. They were part of the entertainment for Pope Francis. When he returned he brought me a commemorative coin and pin. I was thrilled. I will be unable to attend his services but will pray for the peaceful repose of his soul....Cris Cox

I had the honor of being taught by Mr. Roman (I am the pink polka dot doll in the “Coppelia” picture). I loved how he would help each of us dancers and teach us how to stretch or nurse our hurts. I remember his stories as we rehearsed and how he told us he taught Baryshnikov how to throw a frisbee and then Baryshnikov came back and taught Roman trick throws he had taught himself. His love for us and his fellow teachers was palpable and his passion for us and the art of dance was inspiring to me. I still tell some of his stories of ABT or Tulsa Ballet to my Ballet students in San Diego!

During 12+ years studying ballet at the Jasinski studio, I watched Roman grow up, as he spent much time at the studio while his parents taught. In later years, we became friends taking pottery classes together, and we subsequently performed an excerpt from “Prodigal Son” for Boston Avenue Methodist Church in Tulsa. Roman carried on his parents’ work of teaching and directing countless dancers. He will be missed. Kay Andrews Sandel

I have so many great memories of teaching with and talking to Roman during our teaching years at ORU. I consider him my friend. This picture was taken during a dress rehearsal for one of ORU’s dance concerts now that I have it uploaded, I can’t look up the year or production but I know it was a piece that Roman choreographed or set out of his rich repertoire. It was a delight to see him perform this last performance. You’ve now been received into the presence of the Prince of Peace.
