Robert Barnes

Robert Eugene (Bob) Barnes was born August 8, 1925 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Fletcher Henry Barnes and Oza Jevera (Coffman) Barnes. After graduating from Tulsa Daniel Webster High School in 1942, Bob proudly served in the United States Navy as a signals instructor during WWII. On August 11, 1946, he married Betty Jo Goodman in Independence, Kansas. Ironically, he passed away in Tulsa on his and Betty's 65th wedding anniversary at the age of 86. Bob retired from T.G.&Y, where he had been a store manager and district supervisor. Always a hard worker, Bob then began a second career on the staff at Barnes and Barnes, Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Kelso; brother, Fletcher Henry, Jr. and his grandsons, Greg and Ryan Barnes.

He is survived by his wife Betty; daughter, Jody and her husband Bill of Edmond, Oklahoma; son, Robert E. Barnes, Jr. and wife Becky of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; son, Larry Barnes and wife Debbie of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; son, Gary Barnes of Jenks, Oklahoma; sister, Patricia Briggs, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Doug, Darren, Jason, Matt, Jennifer, Julie, Travis, Justin and Jill; fourteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was a gentle, kind and loving man, who was known to be devoted to his family. His loved ones will have precious memories of him and keep him forever in their hearts.
