Rick Richard Fortner, Sr.

Charles Richard “Rick” Fortner, Sr. was born November 11, 1933, in Tulsa, OK to Paul Hubert Fortner and Christine (Durkee) Fortner and passed from this life on June 29, 2024, at the age of 90.

Rick was deeply committed to his faith and family. He served in the Air Force and became an air traffic controller, which he retired from after 32 years of service. He was the primary care giver for his dear wife Earlene, in the later years of her life. They were married for 55 years. Rick supported both of his sons in their musical endeavors and careers. His two grandchildren were a source of great joy in his life.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Earlene (Smith) Fortner; his son, Steven Fortner; and his sister, Phyllis.  He is survived by his son, Rick Fortner, Jr. of Tulsa, OK and his 2 granddaughters, Madison and Jensen.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024, with military honors at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK.
