Nora Simmons

Nora (Reed) Simmons was born July 27, 1904 in Decatur, Arkansas to James Franklin and Anna (Stamps) Owens. She left this life to join our heavenly Father on May 30, 2008 at the age of 103 years and 10 months.

Nora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Washington Reed; her husband Homer A. Simmons; her daughter Nadean Yount; and four step-daughters Jane Player, Jerry Hammock, June Brown and Joan Younger. She is survived by three daughters Velma Simmons and her husband Jack of Tulsa, OK , Maxine Baker and her husband Junior of Tomball, TX, and Rosa Mae Hammer of Broken Arrow, OK; her step-daughter Judy Raesener and her husband Herman of Llano, TX; four sons Roy Reed and his wife Angela of Tulsa, OK, Troy Reed and his wife Kathy of Skiatook, OK, George Reed and his wife Patsy of Tulsa, OK and Bill Reed and his wife Cary of Grove, OK; her son-in-law James Yount of Hendersonville, TN; thirty-nine grandchildren and forty-eight great grandchildren as well as several great, great grandchildren.

There will be a family visitation from 6:00 - 8:oo PM Monday with a funeral service 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Brookside Baptist Church with interment to follow in Decatur City Cemetery, Decatur, Arkansas.
