Melvin Oscar Smith, age 88, passed away Monday, December 15, 2008. Melvin was born on January 21, 1920 in Pound, WI to Oscar and Myrtle (Burkey) Smith. Melvin was an aircraft mechanic for many years for Mid-America Aircraft and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Grossman) Smith in 1998 and a son, Terry Allen Smith. He is survived by his son, Mike Smith, of Coweta, OK; 3 grandchildren, Jessica Marie Stewart, of Broken Arrow, OK, Laura Jayne Smith, of Oklahoma City, OK and Cailin Michelle Smith, of Tulsa, OK and 2 great grandchildren, Morgan Ashleigh Stewart and Madelyn Marie Whitesell, both of Broken Arrow, OK. Graveside service 2:00 P.M. Thursday Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. Ninde Brookside Chapel 918-742-5556.
