Maxine Martin

Martin, Maxine Louise (Carter), 83, passed from this life on Monday, November 30, 2009. She was born on November 21, 1926 in Beggs, OK to Herbert and Dona Carter. Maxine graduated from Okmulgee High School then married C. G. Martin in 1947 before moving to Tulsa where they worked and raised three children. In 1974 Maxine and C.G. started their own business, C.G. Martin Co., Inc., a plate steel warehouse and processing center in southwest Tulsa. She had a strong faith in God and her Savior, Jesus Christ and was a longtime member of Winnetka Heights Baptist Church. She loved spending time with family, watching football, "traveling" and music and was always looking for ways of helping others. She was preceded in death in 2005 by her husband of 58 years, C. G. Martin; a sister, Edith Breeden and a brother, Harold Carter. She is survived by her three children, Connie J. Martin, Joe A. Martin and his wife, Donna and Toni L. Glisson and her husband, Richard, all of Tulsa, OK; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Herb and Jimmy Carter; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Maxine will be deeply missed by all and she will live in our hearts always. The family will receive friends at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home, 3841 S. Peoria, from 5 -7 PM Thursday.
