Maudell Doner

Maudell Baxley Doner was born November 15, 1923 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Austin W. and Willie (Cason) Baxley. She passed from this life Friday, July 13, 2007 at the age of 83.

She received her Bachelor's of Science degree from Texas State College for Women, Denton TX.. She met James K. Doner while working as a dietician at Valley View Hospital in Ada, OK and they were married May 2, 1954.

Maudell was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was deeply involved with the Bethel and Serendipity bible studies. She was a tireless volunteer for Adopt-A-Caseworker, receiving the State Interagency Child Abuse Prevention Task Force's 1999 Mary Ellen Wilson Award. Maudell was also an avid gardener and member of the Tulsa Herb Society and the Tulsa Garden Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, James in 1993, her stepdaughter, Patricia Haizlip, a stepson, Byron Doner and her sister, Emily Baxley. Surviving family include her step-sons, Dr. Richard Doner of Midwest City, OK and August Doner of Chelsea, OK, her cousin, Jane Baxley Maher of Kingwood, TX, several Cason cousins from the northeast Texas area; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many, many friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, friends are contributing to the Tulsa Garden Center, Inc. 2435 S. Peoria Ave., Tulsa, OK 74114.
