Mary Harris

Mary Louise Collins Harris was born May 31, 1920 in Raleigh, North Carolina the daughter of C.R. and Mattie (Watkins) Collins. She completed this life on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the age of 90 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Louise was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina where she graduated from high school and attended business college. During World War II she was a volunteer with the Red Cross in the medical field. She met her future husband, Allen Richard Harris, at a U.S.O. dance. After the war, they were married October 6, 1948 in Raleigh. They moved to Allen's hometown of Vian, Oklahoma. Several years later they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they raised their family. She and Allen were longtime members of Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, on June 2, 2009 and her daughter, Nancy Harris Rutledge on September 10, 2003. She is survived by her son, John Harris of Tulsa; her son-in-law, Randy Rutledge of Houston; her granddaughters, Julie Rutledge Judman of Austin, Texas and Laura Rutledge of Arlington, Texas; and her niece, Paula Hackler of Tulsa.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21st in the Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney James officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
