Obituary
Mary Carolyn (Wright) Brothers passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mary Carolyn was born January 18, 1935, in Pittsburg, Kansas to Lavelle and Harold Wright. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 43 years, John “Jay” O. Brothers in 1999.
The family moved from Kansas to Tulsa and Mary Carolyn attended Lanier Elementary and Wilson Jr. High. It was at Wilson where Mary met the love of her life, Jay. They both graduated from Central High School and went on to the University of Oklahoma where Jay played football and Mary Carolyn was a Kappa Alpha Theta.
Mary Carolyn loved her family and always created a warm and inviting atmosphere. She was an inherent creative who was extremely gifted in design and decorated many houses throughout Tulsa. Mary loved fishing! Whether it was fly-fishing in the mountains or bass fishing at Grand Lake, she could master both with great skill and patience. She enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Italy where she continued to develop her amazing artistic talent in oil painting.
Mary Carolyn was very involved in First United Methodist Church where she attended the lay counseling program created by Dr. William Lantz. She loved helping people understand their choices and guiding them towards a deeper relationship with the Lord. When Paul, her oldest was in high school, she led a group of girls in his class to the Lord and was a beautiful example of God’s love to so many.
Mary Carolyn had a strong countenance, a warrior spirit, a great sense of humor and she handled so many of life’s challenges with tremendous grace and dignity. She was an inspiration to so many who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. We know she is painting Jesus even now!
She is survived by her son Paul and his spouse, Brenda and her daughter Suzanne and her spouse, Scott. Eight grandchildren and 5 great grand babies.
The funeral service for Mary Carolyn will be Tuesday, November 7 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 51st and Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to John 3:16, Tulsa.

We have known Mary since Tulsa Central High School days.Then in early 1969, we came into a personal relationship with Christ,which resulted in a long standing and rich friendship.. We shared our friendship and faith with our Thursday Night Prayer Group, and First Methodist Church in Tulsa.Many, many wonderful memories.

Mary Carolyn laughed easily and had the most beautiful blue eyes. She was always incredibly kind to me and was instrumental in my walk with the Lord by teaching my Junior High Bible study group. She loved the mountains, fly-fishing, painting, and her grandchildren.

My life was blessed the day I met Mary Carolyn Wright at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School. That was 1947 and we were 13 years old. That same year Mary Carolyn met the love of her life and my best friend, Jay Brothers. We shared our lives together and have many, many, many fond memories.. I loved “Mares” like the sister I never had and she will be sorely missed by all. Yet, comforted knowing she is again with Jay and dwell in the house of the Lord for eternity. Paul
