Marilyn Woodward

Marilyn A. Woodward was born on August 7, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George and Kathryn (Ellis) Woodward. Marilyn passed from this life on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the age of 59.

Marilyn grew up in a military family (Army Brat!) where she gained her love of travel. She loved to go on cruises, traveling in the Caribbean Ocean, visiting Cancun, Cozumel and other exotic places along the way. While on the cruise ship she loved to listen to the music and dance. If she didn't like the music she would try to change it or go to another part of the ship to find the right style of music. Marilyn also took trips to Las Vegas where she loved to gamble and play the slot machines. Branson, Missouri was another place of interest, but her two favorite places in the world to visit was Sea World in San Antonio and Memphis, Tennessee to visit Graceland, the home of her favorite singer and entertainer, Elvis Presley. You could say that Marilyn was a HUGE fan of Elvis. She was a hard worker for the Gatesway Foundation Thrift Store. She did all aspects of her job, stocking the shelves, sorting, folding and arranging the items for sale. Marilyn was involved throughout the years in Special Olympics and was named Athlete of the Year in the Ages 30+ Division. She loved to bowl and received a trophy in 1997 in the Charlie Allen League. Coming from a military home life, Marilyn was a very meticulous housekeeper. Everything had to be cleaned and in its place, military style!

She loved her parents very much and they preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters, Janice Turner, of Broken Arrow, OK and Pam Woodward, of Tulsa, OK; a brother, George E. Woodward, Jr. of Lafayette, LA and her nieces and nephews, Phillip, Joyce, Susan, Bill, Margaret, Phil, Greg, David, Mark, Hope, April and Jennifer. She also had a special love in heart for the ladies who took care of her and for her roommate, Cecelia.
