Obituary
Lou Jean (James) McGilbra was born July 20, 1927 in McAlester, OK to Auldy R. & Gracie E. (Clark) James and passed from this life August 26, 2015 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 88.
At age 68 Jean went back to college and graduated from Langston University with a degree in Bachelor of Arts. Then continuing her education she graduated in May 1997 with a Master degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. She was an accomplished artist, and worked along side William Sampson (Indian artist, actor). She was also a real estate agent for approximately 40 years. She was an avid reader during her life span.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David L. McGilbra; and her daughter, Earlynda Ramsey. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Lanford; her son and his wife, Larry & Rebecca McGilbra; her grandchildren, Timothy McGilbra, Donna Cantway, Danny Wheeler and Rachel Lanford; 9 great grandchildren; and 13 great, great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Shady Grove Cemetery in McAlester, OK.

I was so sorry to hear of Jean's death. She was a dear friend although we lost contact many years ago. We met and were active in the Okmulgee Art Guild . My sincere sympathies and best wishes Ruthe Blalock Jones
