Lina Jane Prater
Obituary
Lina was born on October 16, 1951 in Mattoon, Illinois to Jack Hale and Ruth Hale. Lina passed from this life on December 12, 2014 at the age of 63.
She had a 30 year career in public education as an English Teacher and High School Counselor. She touched many lives of students and peers. She had a gifted talent of obtaining million of dollars in scholarships for seniors in high school. She was at her best when working with students towards their goals in careers and college. She was still in contact of many of her students and always enjoyed hearing about them.
Lina is survived by her husband Charles Prater, children Lucas Hale, Brent Prater, Erin Hanks and grandchildren Dylan Hale, Mary Ann Hale, Wyatt Hanks, Eliza Hanks and Nash Hanks. Lina has two brothers Ladney Hale of McAlester and James Hale of Muskogee and several nieces and nephews.
Lina loved her family and would always recall the family gatherings with fondness and happiness that it brought to her at that moment and later in life.

I am very sorry to learn of Lina's illness and passing. I loved her as my best friend and had a wonderful visit with her 5 years ago at our 40th class reunion. I am sorry these past 5 years slipped by with no opportunity to visit with her again. My sympathy is sent to all the family.

I loved Lina so much. She was my teacher at her first school and always made me feel so special. We then became great friends.
