Leon Culver

Obituary

Leon Culver was born March 2, 1954 in Muskogee, OK to J.D. Murray and Betty Culver.  At the age of 63 Leon went to meet our Lord on Sunday, November 19, 2017.

Leon was the owner of Tulsa Wheel and Brake for over 40 years.  His life and service to the Tulsa Community has touched many lives.  Leon lived life to the fullest; he loved fishing, camping, his dog Stone and being surrounded by his grandkids and family.

Survived by his parents, Leon is further survived by his wife of 44 years, Rhonda Culver; his son, Michael Culver and his wife Tanya; his granddaughters, Rileigh and Brooke; his daughter, Alison and Rick; his grandsons, Noah and River; his sister, Joanne Joiner; his sister-in-laws, Joy Arnold and Robbie Sterling; and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 1 at the Ninde Brookside Chapel, 3841 S. Peoria.  His ashes will be scattered next to his lifelong fishing buddy in their “secret” fishing hole at a separate ceremony.

Tributes & Memories

I just found out about this this last the week on January 2018 and I was shocked. I do know his shop will continue to work on my car. Prayers of Comfort to all the family. I do not think I ever came in to his shop when Leon didn't have a smile on his faceL, was always pleasant.

So sorry to hear of Leon's passing, he will be missed by many. I enjoyed the years that Leon serviced my vehicles and becoming friends with him, having the Glenpool connection. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of loss, that God will surround you with peace and comfort.

He was there at my basketball games, school plays, family dinners, holidays, vacations, birth of my children, loss of my parents and husband pretty much my entire life. He has and wept with me during hard times and celebrated with me through the good. There are so many things I loved about him. The way he would look at my sister, his wife, Rhonda with love. His eyes truly showed his feelings. The way his eyes closed when he laughed really hard. The way he would play with the grandkids nieces and nephews. His love for animals especially his dog "Stone". He was a great friend to have and always willing to give a helping hand, even when he didn't have the time. I am so proud and thankful he was and is apart of our family. He will always be in my heart and I will always hear his wise advice in my mind. So for now I just want to say "Thank You Leon, for choosing our family for the past 44 years for you will be and are greatly loved and missed.

I was 13 years old when Rhonda and Leon married. That being said, he is more a brother to me than a brother-in-law. We had many years of laughs and tears together. Now the tears are for Leon. How do you explain the whole that will be left in our little family that he will leave. Our family is very close and somehow we will get through this together. He will truly be missed. It's been more than a week and it still doesn't feel real.

The world has lost a truly honorable man. I have had a business relationship with with Leon for decades, but how can you have "just a business relationship" with Leon. The answer, it's just not possible. I've considered Leon a friend for these many years and I will truly miss him. No matter how hard his day had been, there was always a cheerful smile waiting for you when you walked into his shop. I could always trust Leon with anything that I brought to him and know he would do what was right and do it with integrity. My condolences to the family. I know we lost someone special.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Leon's passing. Rhonda, Mike and Allison please accept my heartfelt condolences. Through the years, I have stopped by the shop to visit, get a little work done and catch up on the family, tell stories and continue our friendship. God Bess. J.D.

I am one Thelma Hughes Anderson's sons. On visits to Oklahoma as a child I can remember visiting Aunt Betty's home I believe I met Leon when I was about 8 years old but he was 10 years older than me so I didn't know him well. I am sorry for your loss and am having good thoughts for your family. Sincerely, Brian Anderson

Tanya, Mike and Family, We are deeply sorry for your loss and that you have to go through this. God must have had bigger plans for Leon, maybe help with fishing? There aren't any words to say in this time to stop the hurting but I hope you take comfort in knowing where he is and that you will meet again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love, Chris & Cathy Doppler (Tanya's Cousin)
