LaJunta Jewell

LaJunta June (Chastain) Jewell, 83, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at her home in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was born July 27, 1925 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma the daughter of Ernest and Jewel (Hale) Chastain. She married Robert Conrad Jewell in July of 1945. They were married 55 years when he preceded her in death on May 19, 2000. They made their home in Duncan, Oklahoma where her husband was affiliated with Halliburton. While living in Duncan she was a member of a local garden club, a creative writing club and the American Association of University Women. She completed her college degree in 1982 graduating from the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma. After the death of her husband she moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma to be closer to her family. She is survived by her daughters: Sandra Wallace and her husband Gary, Amanda Rutledge and her husband Tommy all of Guthrie and Barbara Rucker of Tulsa; her five Grandchildren: Jeff Rutledge, Chad Rutledge, Armin Rucker, Jacob Rucker and Patrick Rucker; and her five great Grandchildren: Tanner Rutledge, Logan Rutledge, Kaden Rutledge, Lulu Rucker and Armin, Rucker, Jr.. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 21st at the Faith Bible Church in Edmond with the Rev. Dr. Mark Hitchcock officiating. Committal prayers and interment will be 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulsa. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 2227 E. Skelly Dr., Tulsa, OK 74105
