Joseph Prater

Prater, Joseph C., age 86, passed from this life on Sunday, March 14, 2010. He was born on March 27, 1923 in Kingston, OK to Benjamin and Winnie (Yarbrough) Prater. Mr. Prater worked in commercial property management at Utica Square and Southroads Mall and later operated his own building maintenance business. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a POW held in Romania. Mr. Prater was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in the war. He is survived by his wife, Edna, of the home; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Prater Pavelka and her husband, Miro, of Dallas, TX, Susan Prater Scott and her husband, Dan Katz, of Tulsa, OK and Carolyn Prater Ryan and her husband, David, of Costa Rica; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Joe C. Prater, Jr., and his wife, Brenda, of Tulsa, OK; 1 brother, David E. Prater, of Tulsa, OK; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6-8PM Tuesday at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral service 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment with military honors at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Restore Hope Ministries, 2960 Charles Page Blvd., Tulsa, OK 74107.
