Jolene Marcella Monney

Jolene Marcella (Merfeld) Monney was born February 2, 1933 in Greene, IA to Robert & Loleta (Odette) Merfeld and passed from this life on June 29, 2014 at the age of 81.

Jolene retired from St. Francis Hospital after 25+ years in the accounting department. She loved painting and was an accomplished amateur artist. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, sewing, travel, holiday weekends at the lake and being with her family. Jolene loved flying with her husband, a private pilot, to various aviation events. She became quite a sports fan, especially golf, where she followed her grandchildren to numerous golf tournaments. She loved to help children and made doll clothes, stuffed bears, and blankets for various organizations. She was also a bit of a daredevil who loved roller coasters and riding seadoos!

Jolene was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bret Monney; her sisters Joanne McLaughlin, Jobyna Reilly and brother Rodney Merfeld. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lyle V. Monney of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Louise & Dave Johnson; her grandchildren, Amanda Johnson Therrell & husband Andrew; Mark Johnson; sisters Joyce Holt, Deanna Sheridan, and Arla Gibson; brothers Gary and Keith Merfeld.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home Chapel.
