John Nichols

Nichols, John William, 61, died Thursday, January 3, 2008. Born December 31, 1946 in Oklahoma City the son of John R. and June (Gibson) Nichols. John attended Putnam City High School and Central State University. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in combat during the Vietnam War. John was also a 32nd degree Mason. Retired as an appraiser from the Tulsa County Assessor's Office, John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his involvement with Ducks Unlimited. John was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his mother, June Smith and her husband C.W. of Oklahoma City, brothers Jerry R. Nichols and his wife Kris of Tulsa, and Stephen P. Nichols and his wife Deborah of Ardmore. Preceded in death by his father, John R. Nichols. Memorial service 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 8th, Ninde Brookside Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oklahoma Ducks Unlimited, 1700 East Walking Sky, Edmond, OK 73013.
