Joan Roat
Obituary
Joan Roat went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 1, 2021. She was born in Ridgway, PA on February 23, 1930 to Charles Holcombe and Cecylle (Anderson) Holcombe. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married to Donald Roat for 33 years until his passing. Together they enjoyed camping, traveling and loved to square dance.
Joan grew up in Chester, PA and graduated with honors from Drexel University. As a young mother, she lived in Pennsylvania and California before permanently settling in Oklahoma in 1968. She loved oil painting, painting mostly landscapes and seascapes and saw the Hand of God in everything she painted. She visited all 50 states and traveled to 28 countries. She worked at Oral Roberts University for 4 years and was a caregiver to the disabled for 28 years. She is survived by her children Stephen and Rebecca Ashbridge; Susan Ashbridge; Brian and Christie Ashbridge, step-son, Donald Roat, II and step-daughter Donna and Jorge Nerio, along with 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

I worked with Joan at new beginnings home she was truly a blessing. She painted me a picture of Jesus in the clouds she used a knife to create it. I put it in both my daughters bedrooms now it is hung by my entry door of my home. I lost touch for 20 somthing years, but never forgotten. May she rest in peace.

Joan was my stepmother for 42 years. For a long time after my Dad passed in 2011 we would go to dinner once a month. We had some interesting conversations. I know she was ready to meet Jesus and she missed my Dad. So by now she has united with them. My thoughts are with her children and grandchildren.

She was my mother and I loved her with all my heart. I loved her so very much, but I know she is with Jesus and Don and she has been ready to meet them. I will miss her so much. Susan
