Obituary
Joan Michelle “Joanie” Summers was born October 15, 1961 in Independence, MO to Thomas Reese and Willetta Dean (Chappelow) Latimer. She passed from this life Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 55.
Joanie was a 1980 graduate of Glendale High School in Springfield, MO and attended the University of Oklahoma before completing her Bachelors of Arts degree at Southwest Missouri State University (now MSU) in 1985. She joined the James Décor design firm in Springfield soon after graduation and worked with them for 28 years before relocating to Tulsa in 2015.
Joanie was preceded in death by her father, Thomas in 2010. She is survived by her mother, Willetta Latimer; her son, Andrew David Summers; her sister, Janelle M. Rogers; her brother, Jeffrey M. Latimer; and, her granddaughter, Aubrea N. Summers, all of Springfield, MO. She is also survived by James J. Robertson and his daughter, Ryan E. Robertson, both of Tulsa.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Boston Avenue Methodist Church, Rose Chapel.
