Obituary
Jane Ellen (Stone) Gibson of Bixby, OK was born August 20, 1944, passed peacefully into the eternal love of God on January 23, 2025, with her daughters by her side.
Jane graduated from Putnam City High School and Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science. She continued her education with a degree in medical technology from the Baylor School of Nursing in Dallas, TX. Jane was an active member of the Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. On February 19, 1967, Jane married the love of her life and traveling partner, Jeffery Donald Gibson. They both had a strong love for adventure and spent the first 11 years of their marriage traveling the world. Together they loved meeting and making new friends, exploring new cultures, and bringing it all back to share with others.
Jane was an avid reader with a love for all genres of literature. In addition to reading, she was a published author. Jane had many talents and loved to share them with everyone she met. Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jeff Gibson and her parents, Robert and Caroline Stone. Jane is survived by her two daughters, whom she never missed their sporting events, Jill Mankin (Casey) of Bixby, OK and Sarah Sherrell (Preston) of Argyle, TX. Jane was blessed with 7 grandchildren, which she loved immensely, and they adoringly called her Granny. Jane is also survived by her brother Robert Stone (Susan) of Camdenton, MO and Susan Winters (Henry) of Modesto, CA.
A celebration of Jane’s life is planned for Saturday February 22, at 10 a.m. at St James Presbyterian Church, 11970 S Elm, Jenks, OK. 74037.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bob Dylan Center of Tulsa via Friends of American Songs Archives are welcome.

I was sorry to hear about Jane so much later after her passing. Jane and I were classmates and played in the marching band at Putnam City High School and graduated in the Class of ‘62. Jane was also a majorette and participated in other school activities. Jane will be sorely missed by fellow classmates and our PCHS Alumni Association offers our condolences to her family and close friends during this difficult time.

I was so sorry to hear of Jane’s passing. I have very fond memories of her and Susan from the AXO days in Stillwater. Especially Jane’s beautiful singing voice and leading our song practices with vigor and patience! My heartfelt condolences to her family.
