Obituary
James Joseph, III was born June 17, 1958 in Tulsa, OK to James Joseph, Jr. and Mary Marguerite (Holmes) Joseph and passed from this life on November 6, 2018 at the age of 60 surrounded by family.
He was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle and friend. “Boogie”, as he was affectionately called, will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by his parents James is survived by his wife, Elesia Lynette (Liggins) Joseph; his children and their spouses, James Joseph IV (Megan), Chevice Dunn (Willie) and Ephraim Liggins; his brothers, Shamos Joseph, Jamos Joseph, Amos Joseph, Damos Joseph; his sisters, Mary Joseph Reeves and Velma Joseph Shelton, his step brother, James Stakes; his 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
James will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, and a rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. both at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home and Chapel. A funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13 at the Pentecostal Temple Church of God In Christ, 2438 E. 29th Street North, Tulsa. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Calvary Cemetery following.

From the first time we met James and I were friends. His personality was honest, caring and true. He would always bring you up if you were feeling down about something. He was always positive. I regret not staying in touch with him all these years. He was a classmate, teammate and true friend. Boogie you are missed. RIP

With a heavy heart I would like extend my condolences to James Joseph wife Lisa and his brother Shamos and rest of Joseph family on the passing of James Boogie Down Joseph. Boogie was my Classmate and we served side by side US NAVY Aboard the USS Independence CV-62 for four years. Together we learn the true meaning of brotherhood. We traveled the world together having one another back threw any circumstances. In words of Martin Luther King" we have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fish but we have to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers. Good bye for now brother!
