Hugh S. Pickering, III

Hugh Sherlock Pickering, III was born April 28, 1957 in St. Louis, MO to Hugh Sherlock Pickering, Jr. and Katherine Anne Moore and passed from this life on June 10, 2021 at the age of 64.

Hugh had 26-plus years in army service, including 2 deployments to Afghanistan and 2 deployments to Iraq. He was an aviation enthusiast, and enjoyed Celtic music. For Hugh, it was always family first. He has been a certified appliance technician for most of his adult life. He worked for Melton’s Appliance and also Cook’s Appliance Service, both in Tulsa. He will be greatly missed by all.

Hugh is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Katherine Jackson Porter. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jacqueline McPherson; his sons, Joseph Pickering and Kenneth Pickering; his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy & Thomas Hastings; and his half-sister and husband, Martha & David Strickler, and several step brothers and sisters, cousins and nieces and nephews.

Hugh will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5:00—7:00 p.m. Funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17 at the Ninde Brookside Chapel with a 1:00 p.m. graveside service following at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Wounded Warriors or American Heart Association.
