Howard Sowers

Sowers, Howard Michael, 84, was born January 21, 1923 in Gage, Ok and died Wednesday January 31, 2007. During WWII Howard served in Europe as a forward observer in the 71st Infantry Division, Field Artillery, and was awarded a Silver Star. He also served again in the Korean War. He received an accounting and law degree from the University of Oklahoma. He married his wife Barbara on January 26, 1949 and they were longtime members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Howard worked for Amerada Hess Corporation for 37 years and retired as Manager of the Property Tax Department. He was loved by all who made his acquaintance and will be missed dearly. Preceding him in death were his parents and 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, a daughter, Cecily Swearengin, of Broken Arrow; a son, James Michael Sowers, of Ft. Myers, FL; 5 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Memorial service will be Monday, February 5, 2:00 PM, at Trinity United Methodist Church.
