Helen Louise Stephens age 70, retired special education teacher died Tuesday, February 21 in the St. John Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the Salonia Free Will Baptist Church in Salonia, Oklahoma with Rev. Leon Sheppard officiating, burial will be on the family plot in the Red Oak Cemetery.
Mrs. Stephens was born on January 6, 1936 in Maize, Oklahoma to Howard and Helen (Hefner) Brown. She and Harley Stephens were united in marriage on August 10, 1953 in Wilburton, Oklahoma and moved to Tulsa where they have made thier home since. She retired from the Tulsa Public School system after 17 years as a special education teacher with the Lewis and Clark elementary school.
Survivors include her husband Harley of the home, 2 daughters Wanda Louise Stephens of Fairfax, and Robin Leona Stephens of Cleveland, 2 sons Robert Earl Stephens of Wister and Billy Joe Stephens of Hominy, 1 sister, Shirley Ann Kitchens of Red Oak, 6 brothers, Clyde, Jim, Wayne, Joe, Eddie and Louie Brown all of Red Oak. She was preceded in death by a son Harley James Stephens in 1969.
