Helen Effie Belden

Helen Effie (Stanfield) Belden was born September 6, 1933 in Garvin, OK to Joseph Lee Cleveland Stanfield & Mary Jane (Craft) Stanfield and passed from this life on April 20, 2022 at the age of 88. Helen was the youngest of 8 children; 4 sons and 4 daughters.

Helen grew up in Iron Staab which is near Idabel, Oklahoma and attended schools there. In her Jr. and Sr. years of high school she would go to Beaumont, Texas and work for both summers and save her money for school. She went to a college in the area where she took courses in business administration. She married Robert Lee Belden on July 18, 1953. From this marriage they had one son, David Lee Belden. Helen was a very kind and gentle person whom everyone who knew her liked very much. One family member said she never met anyone that she did not like, and all who knew her liked her as well. She was a very independent woman and very opinionated, but still all who knew her liked and cared for her. She was known as a gentle person with a strong will. She worked for many years at an Assembly of God daycare in south Tulsa. She was the business administrator and helped the daycare ministry there improve their finances.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Robert Lee Belden; her son, David L. Belden; her sisters, Marjorie (Stanfield) Turnage, Minnie Stanfield and Margareit Stanfield; and her brothers, Jess Stanfield, Toy Stanfield, Loy Stanfield and George Stanfield. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters of the faith.

Helen will lie in state Monday, April 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and her funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 both at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home and Chapel, 3841 S. Peoria, Tulsa, OK. She will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
