Hazel Marie (Smith) Muratet, 87, passed from this world to the next on Friday, November 24, 2006. She was born March 7, 1919 near Marion, Kansas to James and Anna Conyers. Graduated in 1940 from Wesley Nursing School as a Registered Nurse. She married Verne A. Smith in 1940 and was blessed with 4 children. She was a compassionate nurse for 48 years, restiring in 1988. She was a Master Gardener, professional seamstress, an excellent cook, active member of University United Methodist Church, and a wonderful mother and wife. Her husband Verne died in 1982 and she married Paul W. Muratet in 1988. She is survived by her husband Paul, children Dr. Verne Smith, Jr. (Diana), Connie Smith Robb (George), Kathleen Smith (Ray), Stephen Smith (Ann), Step-children: Elayne Muratet May (Patrick), Linda Muratet Pennington (Larry) and Kenneth Muratet (Elizabeth). She is also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Celebration of Hazel's life will be at University United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 28th at 2:00 p.m.. Graveside service will be Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. in Marion, Kansas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Clarehouse hospice, 7324 E. 49th Place, Tulsa, OK 74145.
