Grace Young

Veva "Grace" Brannon Young passed away on April 19, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 89. Grace was born on December 8, 1924 to Vera Sanford Brannon and George Hershel Brannon, in Mountain Park, Oklahoma. Grace grew up in Carnegie, Oklahoma and graduated from Carnegie High School.

Grace married John W. "Jack" Young on June 15, 1945 at Wheeling Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Youngs were long time residents of Bartlesville where Grace worked in the Phillips Petroleum Company Treasury Department. She was a long time member of First Christian Church in Bartlesville and most recently Bethany Christian Church in Tulsa. Grace was a devoted Christian and award winning quilter, but her favorite role was that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jack, a son, Timothy John Young, siblings, Marjorie Skeen, Geraldine Phelps, Georgena Cella and G.H. "Jeepers" Brannon, and her parents. She is survived by a sister Muriel Netherton, of Madera, CA; three daughters: Terri and Jim Warwick, St. Charles, Missouri; Peggy and Dennis Peterson, Bixby, Oklahoma; Ann and Randy Wilson, Edmond, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren: Jonathan and Tara Warwick, Edmond, OK; Christopher and Alison Warwick, St. Louis, MO; Eric and Marla Peterson, Jenks, OK; Adam Peterson, Jenks, OK; Grant and Meaghan Wilson, Oklahoma City, OK; Andrew Warwick, Clemson, SC; Benjamen and Sarah Wilson, Midland, TX; and Emily Peterson, New York City, NY. Great grandchildren, Cain Longan and Grace Peterson, Jenks, OK, Hank and Abby Warwick, Edmond, OK, and Trevor and Avery Warwick, St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by her Australian daughter, Ambassador Jane Hardy and her husband, Vytas Kapociunas, Madrid, Spain.

Services for Mrs. Young will be at Montereau In Warren Woods, 6800 S. Granite Ave., Tulsa, OK on Saturday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. in the Coterie Theatre. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Bartlesville, OK at 2 p.m.

Grace will be remembered for her quiet strength, generous spirit and thoughtful and caring heart.
