Obituary
Gary Clark Adams was born November 19, 1950 in Kansas City, Kansas to Dorothy Glynn (Stephens) and K.S. “Boots” Adams. He passed from this life Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Vail, Colorado at the age of 66. As a graduate of Bartlesville College High School, he lettered in football and basketball. Gary attended the University of Kansas on a football scholarship and graduated with a B.S.B.A. Degree in 1973. He was a gifted athlete and a three-year starter on the Jayhawk Football Team. Proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Gary was a life-long supporter of the Alpha Xi Chapter, Sigma Chi Fraternity at KU. As Chairman and President of Adams Affiliates, Inc. Gary managed multiple subsidiaries and related companies active in the oil and gas exploration and production business, real estate investments as well as farming and ranching operations. Gary shared his adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors with his family and friends through flying, skiing, boating, diving and fishing. He loved all sports activities, especially the KU Jayhawks. Gary actively volunteered in his children’s school activities and sports at both the School of St. Mary and Cascia Hall. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Gary is survived by his wife, Melissa and their children, George and Gracie; his daughters, Kimberly Adams, Jamey Adams, Ashley Blazer and her husband, Dave, Julie Fair and her husband, Steve; grandchildren, Mae, Owen, Ethan, Maisie and Catherine; sisters, Stephanie Walthall and her husband, Pancho, Lisa Stinson and her husband, John; brothers, Steve Adams and his wife, Vicki, Kenneth Adams and his wife, Diana; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 709 S. Boston Ave.

Gary and I were class mates at Bartlesville Col-Hi school. I knew Gary and his brothers for about 8 yrs before my family moved. We will catch up on conversation and friendship a little later down the road.

I am so sorry that I will not see Gary getting on his Lear anymore. I didnt know him long or very well, but the short time I knew him, I counted him as a friend. He was always in a pleasant mood and treated me with respect. I miss him and I feel for his family's loss. I will always remember Gary as a true gentleman.

To Mrs Adams: To say I was disappointed to hear of Gary's passing earlier this year would be an understatement! I very much enjoyed being with Gary and you at your home in Tulsa just a few short years ago, associated with taking care of his Maule Super Rocket Seaplane. I also was the gent he hired to fly N18KU out of harms way as a hurricane approached the Bahamas in 2004. Gary called me because of all our experience with operating and maintaining those machines. I stayed on your beautiful yacht there as well. Anyway if there is anything we can help you with regarding the Maule Seaplane please advise. The market for those seaplanes has remained a bit soft but Gary's was in such excellent condition that it may bring a good price if you are wanting to sell it. I was so sorry to learn of Gary's passing. He was truly one of the most charming people one could know. I remember vividly his smile and quick wit. His early engagement with my life was formative to my career and always appreciated, though many years have passed since we last saw one another.
