Fred Neuton Gauger

Fred Neuton Gauger was born January 21, 1931 in Clinton, OK to Fred Rudolph & Carrie Ethel (Steinbeck) Gauger and passed from this life February 12, 2017 in New Cordell, OK at the age of 86.

Raised in Western Oklahoma during the Great Depression and the World War II years Fred graduated High School in 1949, and went on to his collegiate pursuit beginning with Oklahoma A&M where he was a Theta Chi Fraternity member and officer. Interrupted by a call from the United States Army in July 1955 he served in the 3rd Armored Division and the 23rd Armored Engineer Battalion. Upon his honorable discharge in 1957 he continued and completed his education at Oklahoma State University embarking and excelling in his career as an engineer. An accomplished registered professional civil engineer Fred designed Tulsa’s University Club Tower and the Camelot Inn Motor Hotel; in addition, he engineered many Oklahoma City and Tulsa multistory buildings, as well as many around the country, implementing the first computer design. In his career, he taught many college courses, wrote several books, was nationally recognized as a pioneer in the engineering field, and established his own companies to include Gauger Engineering and Computer Synergy.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Susanne Ann (Rapp) Gauger; his daughter, Debra Gay Gauger Gossett; his brothers, Eldon Wells Holt and Roger Rudolph Gauger; and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Gauger-Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Paulette Silvestre; his son and his wife, Curtis and Lisa Gauger; his grandchildren, Diana Jo Williams, Kara Lauren Farrow, Theresa Alexandria Farrow, Derek Nicholas Silvestre and Renee’ Elizabeth Gauger; and his great grandchildren, Christopher James Hyatt and Olivia Grace Hyatt. He is also survived by nephews Roger Randall Gauger, his wife Ruth Ann Gauger and David Lloyd Gauger, his wife Linda Gauger, as well as two lifelong friends that were like brothers, Jim Smiley and Bill Buffington.

A funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
