Florence Mae Hilburn

Florence Mae Hilburn was born on March 28, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA to Reinhardt and Maude Elizabeth (Burgess) Weber.

After high school and secretarial school, she worked for a steel mill in Pittsburgh. During World War II, she wrote monthly letters to all the servicemen from her church who were serving overseas.

Florence married Warren Hilburn in 1945 and they settled in Tulsa, OK. After their youngest child began school, she went to work as a secretary for O’Conner Oklahoma. She retired in 1989.

Florence was devoted to her family and found great joy in being of service. She volunteered with Camp Fire Boys and Girls Across Ages program, Girl Scouts, March of Dimes, Grace Hospice, Disciples Village, her church nursery and Vacation Bible Schools. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cross stitch, and reading. She was an eight year breast cancer survivor.

She is survived by her children, Sandy Hampton and her husband Jim, of Tulsa, OK, Ann Richey and her husband Steve, of Elizabethtown, KY and Mark Hilburn and his wife Brenda, of Little Elm, TX; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Florence passed from this life on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the age of 94.

Services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa, OK.
