Emma Gambrell

Emma Jean Gambrell was born January 9, 1928 in Dalton MO to Theodore John and Emma Minnie A. (Sasse) Kuhlman. She passed from this life Friday, August 14, 2009 at the age of 81.

She was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School and attended the University of Tulsa. She married Ralph Herbert Gambrell in January of 1947 and his work took them to Chicago where Emma Jean worked as librarian for Amoco. They were charter members of Christ The Redeemer Lutheran Church. Emma Jean was involved with Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and at their church, the Alter and Banner Committees in addition to teaching catechism.

Emma Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ralph in August of 2008 and her sister Caroline Crawford in February of 2008. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne Kay Gambrell and Allen L. Ellison; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Ralph and Sheryl Gambrell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A much-loved wife and mother who will be greatly missed, she is now with her Lord and Savior. "Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." Proverbs 31:29

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Christ The Redeemer Lutheran Church. Graveside committal will follow at Floral Haven Cemetery.
