Edith Blankenship

BLANKENSHIP - Edith Eileen, 84, of Tulsa, OK died November 1, 2005. Retired Tulsa Public Schools Psychologist and Pianist/Organist. Born November 16, 1920 in Broken Arrow to Roy and Myrtle (Orr) Shockley. Taught piano, attended Draughn's Business College in Tulsa, OK, graduated from OCW College in Chickasha, OK and attended Tulsa University. Received a Masters Degree, just short of a doctorate. She was a member of the Business and Educational Women's Sorority, Hyechka Music Club, Organ Club, Sigma Alpha Iota National Honor Organization, the National Musician for Delta Rho Delta Sorority, attended NEATS and Happy Timers, on the Advisory Board for Southminster Senior Citizen Center, and a charter member and teacher of the creative writing class, "Stories Written, Read or Said,", along with many other activities. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Kenneth Blankenship and brother, Ray Shockley of St. Louis, MO. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Calderwood and husband Matt of Tulsa, grandchildren Carrie Shellenbarger and family of Broken Arrow and Chris Calderwood of Tulsa. Family and friends are welcome to both services, Graveside commitment service 2pm Thurs 11/3/05 Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a celebration of her life at 3pm at her church, Southminster Presbyterian.
