E. Ray Ferrell, Jr.
Obituary
Elmo Ray Ferrell, Jr. was born September 4, 1930 in Tulsa to Elmo Ray and Elena Mae (Jones) Ferrell. He passed from this life Friday, June 9, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 86.
Ray was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a longtime owner of Acorn Printing Co. and later, the founder and owner of Ferrell Manufacturing Co. Ray and his wife, Marsha enjoyed traveling and camping; watching NASCAR and cooking shows on TV; sitting on their back patio; and, designing new shop carts for their business. Ray was also a longtime member of the Tulsa Akdar Shrine.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Virginia Wester, Margaret Pennington and Shirley Gooch. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Ann (Baer) Ferrell; children by his first marriage: daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Charlene ‘Charlie’ and Howard Hill of Tulsa; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Ann Ferrell of Mounds, OK and Mark Ferrell of Tulsa; Marsha’s children: son and daughter-in-law, James and Sharla Pike of Arkansas; daughter, Debbie Chapman of Owasso, OK; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm Wednesday at Ninde Funeral Directors, Brookside Chapel. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Ray's death. He was a good friend to my parents, Woody and Shirley Matney, as well as to me after my parents' deaths. He did the printing for our travel agency, Matney Travel Service. He would always talk to me at the elections when he came to vote since I was an Inspector. The last time I saw him he seemed fine. I have known Ray since 1989 when I started working for Acorn Printing under the third generation ownership of Mark Ferrell. During these years of working for his son Mark, I enjoyed watching Ray and Mark working together on different projects. Ray always had ink running through his veins and Mark enjoyed learning the trade skills that his father passed down to him. Ray will be missed by many but there are great memories that will be remembered by my family and I and many others.

I was so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. He was a customer with our company and I enjoyed working with him so very much. He was always pleasant to speak with and we had many great conversations. I will truly miss working and speaking with him. My deepest sympathies to your family and to Marsha who I was also very lucky to work with and speak to. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
