Dr. Daniel Craig Martin

Dr. Daniel Craig Martin, a devoted physician and beloved family man, passed away after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. A friend to many, he moved through the world with a warmth that drew people in and made them feel at home. He leaves behind a legacy defined by compassion, intellectual curiosity, and a profound commitment to the wellbeing of others. He was born on January 15, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Richard Loye Martin and Maxine Kelley Martin. He passed from this life in the family home on December 7, 2025, at the age of 69.

Born into a family whose life and work spanned the globe, he spent his formative childhood years in Benghazi, Tripoli, and Marsa El Brega, Libya, accompanying his father whose distinguished career in the oil and gas industry carried the family abroad. These early international experiences enriched his worldview, instilled in him a deep appreciation for the varied cultures, and fostered the sense of adventure that remained with him throughout his life. Upon returning to the United States, the family settled in New Canaan, Connecticut before ultimately making their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A proud graduate of the Class of 1973 of Edison High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Westminster University in Fulton, Missouri, where he cultivated the academic rigor and service-minded ethos that would come to define his professional life. Moved by a clear calling to medicine, he pursued his medical education at the Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, graduating with the Class of 1981.

Shortly thereafter, he established a family clinic in Glenpool, Oklahoma, where he practiced for 35 years. His patients knew him not only as a skilled and knowledgeable physician but also as a steady presence - kind, attentive, and wholly committed to their care. His practice became a cornerstone of the community, and generations of families entrusted him with their most important moments of need. To his colleagues, he was a mentor; to his patients, an advocate; and to all who knew him, a model of integrity in medicine.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a man of many passions. He traveled widely throughout his lifetime, embracing opportunities to experience new cultures, landscapes, and histories - an echo of the global upbringing that shaped him. Yet no place brought him more joy than Grand Lake, where he found his true sanctuary. There, on his boat and among the people he loved most, he spent countless weekends hosting family, sharing laughter, and creating the memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to join him on the water.

Dr. Martin will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family, his patients, and the community he served for more than three decades. His life was rich in purpose and love, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void. Those who carry his memory forward will continue to be guided by the example he set: to work diligently, love deeply, explore widely, and cherish every moment granted.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents and his son. He is survived by his wife, daughters, sisters, brother and five grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with a reception to follow.
