Dr. Byron "Buzz" Marr
Obituary
Dr. Byron (Buzz) John Marr was born on June 22, 1963 in Tulsa Oklahoma to Dr. James Frank Marr and his wife Esther Loraine Baldwin Marr. He went home to the Lord on March 5, 2023, at the age of 59.
Buzz was a 1981 graduate of Tulsa Edison High School, a 1985 graduate of Northeastern State University at Tahlequah and a 1989 graduate of Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine, now OSU Medical School in Tulsa. After medical school he did his internship in Mesquite, Texas, Radiology Residency in Mt. Clemons, Michigan and his Fellowship at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. After practicing Invasive Radiology some years in Texas, he came back home to Tulsa and practiced in Tulsa and the surrounding areas and eventually the surrounding states, while keeping his home in Tulsa. He was always accompanied by his faithful companion, Elvis the goofy dog. He was a well-respected doctor in his field of practice who saved many lives.
Buzz was preceded in death by his father and is survived by many friends and family who love him dearly including his mother, Esther Marr, his sister & brother-in-law, Celia and Rick Springer, his nephew, Devin Springer and his wife Heather Borland, niece Kyra Johnson and her husband, Ryan and his great niece, Jemma Johnson whom he adored. He is also survived by his daughters, Kelsey Anne Marr and Grace Elizabeth Marr.
A private family celebration will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, or the local animal rescue of your choice.

Here are a few candid shots from the last couple of times I remember being with Buzz. Even though it might have been ten years or twenty since I had last seen him, we could pick up our friendship like we'd just been together the week before - and I feel like we could have done the same even now. I'll miss you, my friend!

Oh Buzz, I can't believe you are gone so soon. I have so many childhood memories I could write a book. I still don't think it was fair that you were such a good ice skater. Celia and I could never keep up with you and you delighted in watching us skamper to just stay up on our skates while you whirled wildly around us! Although we were terrified of the neighbor who lived behind your family on 34th Street, you hung with us when we yelled, "Red Rachel, Red Rachel, Come Over Red Rachel!" And when she did come, we would run , screaming and yelling at the first glance of her face! I will say, even though you did tease Celia and me about our never-ending crushes on David Cassidy and Donny Osmond, you put up with us playing their records over and over for hours. Probably should have said days - or maybe years! My favorite part of that memory is you in the bathroom - singing in your best falsetto voice to "Puppy Love," just to drive your sister crazy! Good job my man, it worked! I think my favorite memory of you is that no matter how many fights you and your sister had when we were growing up - I could always tell how much you two loved one another- and that was truly something very special. You are loved my friend, and you will be missed. Fly high - you are whole again.
