Obituary
Dolores Falls Drummond, 69, died peacefully at home late afternoon Friday, July 22nd, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. She leaves this world a better place for having been a part of it, and will be missed by many. Dolores was born on May 20th 1947 in Decaturville, Tennessee. She grew up in Hardin County, Tennessee, where she attended Walker Elementary School and graduated with the class of 1966 at Central High School in Savannah. She attended the University of Tennessee, and had a career path of working in law firms and managing various businesses. But, she would say that her most important job was as a homemaker and parent. Dolores was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Wellington Falls; her grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
Dolores is survived by her mother, Lou Nell Falls; her husband, Cecil Drummond; daughter, Kristie Schwab, and her husband Robert Schwab; son, Barker Fariss, and his wife Brandie; and three grandchildren, Charlotte Ann Suttee, Keller Sullivan Fariss and Crosby Edward Fariss. She was survived also by her elder brother, Dennis Falls, and his wife Kathryn; and her younger brother, Ken Falls, and his wife Ali; in addition to their children and related families.
She is also survived by a large group of close friends, many of whom she felt were like family. Dolores enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and made them a priority in her life. For more than three decades, she was instrumental in organizing a yearly Thanksgiving family gathering with dozens of family members and friends traveling from all over the United States and other countries to enjoy each other, as well as her wonderful cooking. Her home was always open to others, and she made sure that all around her felt loved and welcome. She also gave generously of her time to strangers. And with her unwavering support, many people overcame addiction in their lives. Over the last many years she dutifully and lovingly took care of her mother. She was very proud of her grandchildren, and felt blessed to have all three nearby for most of their lives. “Gammy Breakfast” became a weekly tradition for her grandchildren and her mother, their great grandmother. She loved to travel and was especially fond of the beach. She also loved the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. Dolores will be remembered for her hospitality, kindness, humbleness and faith. She welcomed all with a beautiful smile and open arms. Dolores was a member of Tulsa's First Presbyterian Church and felt privileged to be an active servant for a number of years. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28th, in the Kerr Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 709 S. Boston Ave., Tulsa.
