Devin R. Blust

Devin’s sunrise was April 16, 1974 and sunset was Saturday, February 4 at the age of 42. He was a native Tulsan, born to David R. Blust and Margaret Langley Blust.

He was enrolled in the Little Light House school for visually impaired children in 1975 and graduated in 1985. He attended special education classes in Tulsa Public Schools and graduated from Memorial High School in 1996.

While at Memorial, he participated in Special Olympics and competed at the state games in Stillwater. For several years his highlight of the week was therapeutic horseback riding at All-Star Therapy.

After graduation he became employed at SHOW, Inc. a non-profit, United Way Agency, which serves as an employment-training center for adults with developmental disabilities. He worked in the recycling center until 2015, when he “retired” and moved into Show’s newly-created adult day program.

Devin was preceded in death by his step-father, Ron Butler. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Butler; his sister, Tresa Helm; his step-brother, Scott Butler and his step-sister, Laura Butler and her husband Charley Tompkins; plus uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Devin had many special friends throughout his life who volunteered to make his easier and in turn found that Devin gave more back than he received. His sounds, his laughter and that sparkle in his eyes always put a smile on your face and warmed your heart.

Devin’s Celebration of Life is being held Wednesday, February 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church at 4803 S. Lewis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SHOW, Inc. in Devin’s memory.
