Della Carney

Della Patricia "Pat" Carney, 80, died peacefully in her Tulsa home

August 24th surrounded by her 3 daughters.

Pat was born in El Reno, Oklahoma and raised with her brother Buddy Babcock by their German

mother, Gerda Lugenheim and father Lucius Babcock Jr.

She attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of

Chi Omega sorority. There she met her husband, Andre Blythe Carney Jr,

after they were married they lived in Germany where Blythe was stationed in the

Air force for two years. They moved to Tulsa to start their new lives

and raise their 3 girls. Pat was an expert gardener, consummate chef,

and her skills were used in her work at Philbrook Museum of Art for

many years.

She was a Volunteer at Tulsa Public Schools and was voted "Volunteer of

the Year". She enjoyed being a part the Junior League of Tulsa . She

was a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church and New Haven United

Methodist Church. Pat was passionately involved in her Book club

"Bookies", Investment Club, and Gourmet Clubs.

Pat is survived by her 3 daughters, Merilyn Elizabeth Carney of Los

Angeles, Erin Carney Metz Of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Susan Carney Swab

of Tulsa and her 7 grandchildren, Jack, Cal, Mick and Joe Swab, Austen,

Casey, and Grace Metz.
