Dean Raymond Davis

Dean Raymond Davis was born on October 2, 1937 in Tulsa, OK to Albert Earl “A.E.” Davis and Jewel (Slankard) Davis.  Dean passed suddenly on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the age of 80.  Dean was a loving father, grandfather, neighbor and friend.

Dean graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1956. He and his twin brother, Don were both members of the ‘55 State Champion Baseball team. After High School he pursued his love of baseball.  Dean was drafted by the Chicago Cubs organization and played in the Minor Leagues for them in 1956 and ’57.

Dean was a first responder with the Emergency Service Division of McDonnell-Douglas for 24 years before retiring in 1994. He was a longtime resident of Tulsa and a member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church. 

He is survived by his son, Keith Davis and wife Donna, of Dallas, Texas, his daughter Jill Rogers and husband Brad, of Piedmont, OK and a sister, Marilyn Bartholomew of Tulsa, OK and 3 grandchildren, Kypher LaMar, Jaxon Rogers and Luke Rogers.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Don Davis, his wife of 30 years, Shirrell (Finley) Davis, his older brother Bob Davis and his son, Brian Davis. 

Memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Southern Hills United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southern Hills United Methodist Church/Project Transformation Fund, 6160 S. Lewis Ave, Tulsa OK 74136.
