Obituary
David Arthur Gray, born July 20, 1950 to Hubert Elliot & Marion Ruth (Crouch) Gray in New Haven, CT, moved on from this life February 27, 2019.
David worked in the Controller’s organization and Project Controls for Bechtel Corporation for 38 years. He was married to his best friend and love of his life for 45 years. He was devoted to his family, a dreamer, avid sailor, music enthusiast, award-winning cookie baker, hobbyist gardener, and animal-lover. He was known for his friendliness, selflessness, warmth and wit. David was a life-long member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, MA.
Preceded in death by his parents, David is survived by his wife, Betsy; his children and their spouses, Alexander & Kim, Kendall & Joe, and Leland & Rebecca; and his grandchildren, Aubree, Emery, and Layden.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. CST Thursday, March 7 at the Ninde Brookside Chapel, 3841 S. Peoria. I am saddened to hear of Dave’s death, on the 69th anniversary of his birth. We were classmates at Wagner College and sang in the esteemed Wagner College Choir. Dave and I dated the summer of 1969, between our Freshman and Sophomore years, We had a fantastic summer: target shooting CocaCola bottles at the Niantic cottage; Dave taught me to drive standard transmission in his old VW Beetle; and we spent his 19th birthday together, watching Neil Armstrong walk on the moon.
